Ali has taken the Auckland clubbing scene by storm and is currently emerging as one of New Zealand's most promising electro DJ talents.
He has achieved what only a handful of DJs have experienced including djing at top UK and Auckland nights, promoted and founding several of his own events, hosting his own radio shows, producing the start of many tracks, stepping up from genre to genre and winning two DJ competitions and all in little more than six years.
It all started in 2002 where Ali appeared regularly at numerous top UK nights for his own event Cupid(www.cupidmusic.co.uk ) including Club Pulse and club Vogue, culminating with his first weekly residencies when Cupid moved to the Mooch and The Square.
In 2003 Ali appeared at Cupid and other notable nights including Phuture @ Fire of which drove his hunger to move Cupid to greater levels. This is when Cupid moved to a newer and bigger location at Rpmk in Milton Keynes which was followed closely by being voted the 3rd and 4th most looked forward to event to go to in October and November 2003 in UKs DJ Magazine. Ali played alongside pioneers of our scene like Graham Gold, Brandon Block and Carl Nicholson as well as stars of today including Ben Kaye, Miss Behavin, Zana Mills, Danny Gilligan, Simon Rutherford, Paul Reeves, Little Miss Loud, Jana and Timmy D9.
In December 2003 Alis infectious blend of a variety of music and the ability to give the audience what they want when they want moved him to Auckland. He played out around the city including Decadances's 3rd birthday, Voodoo, Hectic, Transformation, Nukleuz, Expuls and Thors Hammer and supported stars such as K90, Uberdruck and Vinylgroover as well as a mixture of higher regarded locals. Ali also hosted his own weekly radio show which ran for 8 months on twisted107.7fm called "Stormin Sundaze" and won two DJ competitions with Rtotos Cafe, Takapuna and UpFm. 2004 culminated in producing his first two hard trance tracks "Fresh Kill" and "1..2..3..& 6".
2005, Ali branched out his approach and also his style of music and added in countless different genres to his mixes, keeping the music fresh and exiting for everyone. Ali supported Scott Project at Decadance's 4th Birthday, Charlotte Birch & Gaz James at Voodoo and has also played in front of the Prime Minister at the NZ Document & Film Festival Launch Party @ Saatchi & Saatchi's. Ali also hosted The Decadance show on UPFM107.3 in preparation for their 4th Birthday.
To 2006 where Ali was back into promoting with the house/electro event "Envy" alongside elusiv (Bryce Leigh), shaun K, DJ RN and Moki. Four huge parties and a hosted room at Drop The Bass - Ellerslie where 1500 people graced the floors, showing that Envy was the catalyst for young up & coming dj's coming through the ranks coupled with every night be very special for all who attended. Ali was also back on the airwaves with his show "Envy" on Twisted107.7FM every Saturday 10am -11am with elusiv(www.twisted.co.nz/radio/viewshow.php?id=25). By the end of the year Ali had teamed up with Matt Thomas (aka Banga Matt) in the studio, the result was "Cross Ova" (http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/electro/track/292973.html) which managed to get airtime with Fergie (Radio One) and would be heard been played by dj’s around many clubs in Auckland, Thailand, Uk and Ibizia.
So to 2007, Ali has taken a little time out after the Envy closing party in February to concentrate on a few personal goals. Throughout the year he played at a few up and coming events which kept him sane:)
2008 is here and Ali has kicked it off with Fresh and Friday night @ Mesh. Envy has also returned with a big night at Moth Bar and has secured a monthly residencey slot at Safari Lounge kicking off on Sat 17th May.
